Georgia Peterson, age 89, of Ames, passed away, at Israel Family Hospice House, on May 23, 2018. A gathering of friends and family will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa.
Georgia Peterson was born on October 29, 1928 in Davenport, Iowa to the parents of Pete and Hazel Greenlee. Georgia and Jim were married on October 1, 1949. Georgia worked for many years in cosmetics at Fastco and later owned and operated Peterson Used Furniture and Antiques for over 10 years.
Georgia is survived by her two son's Marvin (Barb) Peterson of Huxley, and Ron (Anna) Peterson of Ames; granddaughters Laura (Shawn) McGarvey, Beth (Bryan) Phillips, Trisha (Josh) Raines, Tiffany (Mike) Holemen and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, two infant's daughters Diane and Debra Peterson, her brother Wayne Greenlee, and sister Patricia Shue.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Ames Historical Society.

I am so sorry for your loss. Georgia was a wonderful woman and became like a second grandmother to us. She will be deeply missed and will be in our hearts forever. I know there were alot of people in heaven thrilled to see her when she arrived in heaven. We love you, Georgia and thankful for the many years we had with you. To Georgia's family. Georgia will be missed terribly. We played many games of cribbage, spent time at the "Hill Cabin," we laughed together and cried together. You have our deepest sympathy.
