Betty J. Egeland age 85, of Huxley, Iowa passed away at her home Saturday, October 19, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. A gathering of friends and family visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday Oct 21, at Palestine Lutheran Church in rural Huxley with a 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 22, Celebration of life funeral service at Palestine Lutheran Church in Rural Huxley with burial at the church cemetery.

Betty was born January 20, 1928 in Prole, Iowa the daughter of James and Violet Eagan. She graduated from Martensdale-St Marys High School in 1945. She married Robert Egeland on June 2, 1948 in Des Moines, Iowa. Betty and Robert made their home in Maxwell and Huxley. She worked as a secretary for an insurance company in Des Moines before retiring. She was active in Palestine Lutheran Church where she was a member and involved with circles and different committees.
Betty is survived by her husband Robert Egeland, her children, Barb (John) Maier of Woodward; James (Diann) Egeland of Madrid; Deb (Allan) Kopaska of Polk City, David (Sandra) Egeland of Montgomery, Tx; Daniel (Kathryn) Egeland of Winnetka, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan (Pamela) Maier, Christopher (Anne) Maier, Jennifer (Cade) Lambert, Nathaniel (Angela) Maier, Adam (Melissa) Egeland, Rachel (Tyler) Farnham, Amber (Kevin) Miller, Holley Backus, Bryan ( Jennifer) Kopaska, Kevin (Melissa) Kopaska, Andrew Kopaska, Kimberly, Heather Egeland, Camden, Kasha, & Daniella Egeland;18 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Eric) Cleveland and Joan (John) Lynch.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
