Kathy,
So sorry for your loss.
I first met Virgil in the late 80's when he and Bill F. use to drive the Ryder truck with our RAGBRAI gear in it from overnight town to overnight town on their way to play golf at a new course.
He was always funny as heck, and never at a loss of humor or words The way him and Bill F. use to banter each other. It was always a good time when he was around.
He was truly one of the best guys ever to have haul our gear.
Thanks for sharing him with our group; I really enjoyed getting to know him.
He will be missed, and remembered fondly.
Our dearest friend Virgil you will be missed by so many. You were a friend to anyone who came along. The first time I met you was when I was a teenager working at Hy-Vee. You were stocking shelves with Nabisco Cookies and Crackers. I will never forget your saying "Hey Kid how are you?", you story telling, infectious laughter and continuous razing. You have been a part of our families lives for 30+ years. Dennis will be lost without you especially when he goes golfing. I am sure you will be watching over him to assure he does it right. I imagine you are having a blast laughing and partying it up. You are able to play as many rounds of golf you want and no one is going to scold you for not keeping accurate score. Love you dear friend until we see each other again.
