CandleTo the family of Kay Naughton: I was sad to read of Kay's passing, but at the same time smiled at the memory of what a great lady she was. Both she and Bill were very gracious to our family and a comfort when our mom passed away so many years ago. Bill and my Dad were commiserating buddies during those long, losing Iowa football seasons back in the 70s. Bill made that long drive to Iowa City for almost every home game, and the even longer drive back after the Hawks usually lost.
It was always fun when Bill and Kay visited us, or we them at their home in Clive. Speaking of which, I recall Kay calling me once to come out to their place to see what I could do about damage to the siding. It seems the house was covered with T1-11 plywood siding and the woodpeckers where having a field day digging out the bugs hiding in subsurface voids and leaving quite a mess. I remember how proud they were of Patrick when he played at Dowling and then went on to college.
May she be long cherished and remembered.

Pat,

You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your mother was an amazing person. I enjoyed talking with her in the mornings when my brother and I would pick you up to go to Dowling.
