Violet Jeanette Shannon age 86, died Sunday March 14, 2010, at Israel Family Hospice House after a battle with Alzheimer's.
Violet was born December 16,1923 in Davenport, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Catherina (Joens) Grimmer. She married Virgil Joseph Shannon June 28, 1947 in Davenport, Iowa.
She is survived by her children Robert (Elaine) Shannon of La Canada, CA, Patricia (Tom) Horton of Ames and Thomas (Gina) Shannon of DeKalb, IL, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a son Michael.

It was always fun to go to the city and visit or stay with Aunt Villie and the family. Turkey notes were her specialty.
I will never forget all the fun times we had at the farm when you all came to visit. Aunt Viley(sp), Uncle Birdie & the whole family. Aunt V alwaya had a hug & a smile for everyone so now I wish you many hugs & smiles while you remember the good times. You will be in our thoughts & prayers, Mary Ann (Shannon) Kelly & Family.
