George W. Williams age 85 of Ames, IA died Monday, November 1, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at Ames Municipal Cemetery Ames, Iowa
George was born January 18, 1925 in Bonifay, FL to Malcom Williams and Jessie (Drake) Williams. George married Charlie Bell Purvis on July 27, 1947 in Brewton, AL. He served in the Army during WWII and retired as supervisor at the Naval Air Rework Facility in Pensacola, FL in 1980. In 2009 George and his wife moved to Ames from Pensacola, FL
George is survived by his wife Charlie Bell, three daughters Jo Ann (Kenneth) Lauter of Pensacola, FL, Beverly (William) Crumpton of Ames, Janice Andrus of Ames, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
George is preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
