Now that you and Joe are celebrating his birthday and Christmas again I hope you made him a big old pot of chili🤣🤣
Dixie was a wonderful neighbor, and we will miss our "over-the-fence" chats with her about all sorts of topics - kids, grandchildren, dogs, and gardening. Our condolences to Joe and to all of Dixie's friends and family. - Joanne & Charles Kerton
Deepest condolences for Dixie's friends and family. I did not know her personally, but surely she will be missed by many. Something that helps me when I feel down is what the Bible says at Psalm 55:22 "Throw your burden on Jehovah, and he will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to fall." Jehovah God always has an open ear, ready for us to pour out our hearts.

I met Dixie while working at a nursing home and we instantly bonded through our similar senses of humor. She truly cared about people and always wanted to hear about any news I had, and good or bad, would respond with " Omg I cant stand it!" We reconnected a couple of years ago on social media and had lunch last year and it was like no time had passed. She had such a caring heart, twinkling eyes, and infectious laugh and I will never forget her. She will be so missed. RIP My friend.
Dixie was truly one of my favorite people to work with years ago..she was an exceptional clinical nurse, a very caring person..to her patients and her colleagues...and oh, her wonderful sense of humor! I am so,so sorry to learn of her death. Sincere sympathy to her loving family.
Dixie and I started MGMC together, she was a great nurse everyone who knew her could appreciate her humor and her compassion. What a wonderful person, she will be missed. Until we meet again, God bless.
Rest In Peace my angel friend. You will always be in my heart. I will never forget how you were there for me when I needed you the most. Please dear God hold this dear sweet soul close and thank you for sending her to me.
Paulette and Mary Beth So sorry for your loss Jeri and Don and family members. Wishing you comfort in your loss.
I have many fond memories of Dixie as a person, a friend and nurse. pc
I have known Dixie since 7th grade, throughout high school and college! I remember sitting in front of Dixie in high school chemistry class and she used to chatter away to me while our teacher was lecturing and we were supposed to be taking notes. We lived together a few years in college, Dixie was always the life of the party. Several of us had gone to a party off campus and the Doobie Brothers song, Black Water, was playing in the background. Whenever Dixie heard the words, "I'd like to hear some funky Dixieland" she kept yelling, "they are singing about me!" Even though that was about 46 years ago, I still remember like it was yesterday! We had lost touch over the years, however, we were able to reconnect through social media and I could tell Dixie had not changed one bit. I will never forget her laughter and smile! Many blessings to the family, Dixie surely will be missed by all!!
Working with Dixie in the ER was always fun and she was a clinical expert. So many memories, jokes and laughter with her. God bless you Dixie and my thoughts and prayers to her family. Neal Loes
This all makes me so sad. I loved seeing Dixie at the reunions, weddings, etc., and she was such an important part of our family. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the gathering and service, as I have a matinee performance in Iowa City that afternoon. My sympathies and prayers are with Joe, Emily, Justin, Jeri, Holly, and their extended families. Jim Kern
Jeri is my sister-in-law and she hooked me up with the Hyde family when I was attending Iowa State. I use to earn a little money by babysitting for the family. It was my home base when I felt homesick and couldn't get back to Van Horne. Thoughts and prayers. Sheila (Maas) Freie
I remember Dixie. Loved working with her. I’m so sorry for your loss. JR Obrecht
Grandma Dixie was the best grandma a child could ever EVER hope to have. She was totally nuts about Ivan and the feeling was 100% mutual. Ivan's life (and mine for that matter) is richer and better for having known her. Ivan loves her "higher than the sky" and always will.
