Paul Terfehn age 77, of Ames, died at Israel Family hospice house in Ames. A gathering of friends and family will be 4-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames with a private graveside service at Ames, Municipal Cemetery.
Ronald Paul Terfehn was born March 16, 1941 in Wellsburg, Iowa the son of Aeilt and Lena Terfehn. He graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1959. In 1961 Paul moved to Ames and started to work for the City of Ames in the Park and Recreation Department. He was employed there for over 44 years retiring in 2006. He was a member of Moose Lodge # 520 and Son of the American Legion both of Ames. Paul enjoyed his time spent at the Moose Lodge and playing golf at the Oaks Golf course. Paul also enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows.
Paul is survived by his daughter, Melinda (Renny) Long son, David Terfehn, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren two brothers, Kenneth Terfehn and Arden Terfehn.

I worked with Paul on the Parks and Rec maintenance crew from 1981 until he retired. He helped make it a good place to work by being ready with a smile, a joke, or some good-natured ribbing, and his knowledge of Parks history and infrastructure (such as underground water pipes and shut-offs) was extensive and valuable. I'm thankful to have known and worked with him. My sympathies to Paul's family.
