LaVon "Bonnie" Shearer 93, of Ames died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 7, 2011 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care in Ames.

LaVon C. Shearer was born September 21, 1917 in Ames, Iowa the daughter of David and Lulu (Bissell) Shockley. She attended the Ames Public Schools. She married Murl Shearer on September 26, 1933 in Hollandale, MN. She worked as a Lab Technician at Iowa State University until 1982 when she retired. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and Heartland Senior Center. She enjoyed volunteering, caring for the friends and family she loved and was proud of maintaining her yard to the age of 91.

She is survived by her son, Larry (Rosemary) Shearer of Gold Canyon AZ, daughter, Muriel Inouye of Roland, seven grandchildren, Steven Shearer, Katy Washburn, Megan Morris, Robert Inouye, Michael Inouye, Susan Tarter, Michelle Reisetter, nine great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, two sisters, and son in-law Robert Inouye.
