On Saturday, September 7, 2019, Patricia (Pat) Jean Coon, loving wife and mother of 3 sons, passed away peacefully at her home at the Waterford Assisted Living. Pat was 91.

Pat was born on July 23,1928 in Creston, IA to Loretta (Case) and Harold Oswald. On September 21,1947, she married Louis Albert Coon of Murray, IA. They raised three sons, Mike, Dennis and Larry. Pat was employed at University of Minnesota Mankato before retiring after 20years of service in the financial aid office. The couple moved to Ames, in 2000. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Ames

Pat had a passion for various types of needlework; crocheted afghans and lap robes for family/church/patients; needlepoint/cross stitch gifts, tablecloths, Christmas stockings; and hardanger gifts and altar cloths. Her kids and grandkids can also attest that she made the best chicken and dumplings in the world.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Lou, her mother, Loretta and her mother's 2nd husband Glen Bayles. She is survived by her three sons and daughters-in- law, Michael and Barbara (Kehner) of Lakeville MN, Dennis and Lisa (Heth) of Sheridan, IL and Larry and Janyce (Swanson) of Webster, MN. Pat is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Jason (Liz) Coon, Cindy (Chad) Rittenour, Aaron (Erin) Coon, Megan (Doug) Eline, Brian (Laran) Coon and Jacquelyn Coon as well as 10 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to memorial services held on Thursday, September 12thth, 2019 at Grandon Funeral Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, IA @ 11AM.
A private ceremony will follow after luncheon with internment @ the Murray, IA Cemetery. Flowers or donations may be sent to Grandon Funeral Care, Ames, IA.
