CandleSorry to hear of your loss.

I knew Bert from Iowa State. Just today, I found an old (and very kind) email from her. I thought I would try to contact her to see how she was doing, but it was not to be.

She was a wonderful person and will be missed.

Roberta's family were our neighbors when she was in 4th grade.
Upon reading her obituary this AM it seemed that she displayed, in childhood, the characteristics of the woman admired in the tributes.
Peace to her memory.

CandleI had the distinct pleasure and honor to be one of the brothers who hired Mom Bert into the Beta Deuteron Charge as our housemother. At the time, little did we know that she would go on to guide the men of Theta Delta Chi for 25 years. Little did we know how profound an impact she would end up having on so many brothers and little sisters that would pass through the doors of 217 Ash. Little did we know, the magnitude of her insight, caring and friendship that she would bestow upon those who, over the years, had the pleasure to spend time with her. It didn’t take us long to realize what a special lady Mom Bert was and how grateful we were, and always will be, to have Mom Bert in our lives. Mom Bert left her mark on each of us, and we are all better people to have known her. She will be greatly missed, and her legacy lives on in her family and in each of us to whom she was such a positive influence. She will be remembered forever.

I.T..B.

CandleMom Bert carried on the tradition of a select few women who dedicated a large part of their lives to the men of Theta Delta Chi, Beta Deuteron Charge. I know she will share many stories with Mom Mac and Mom Moseley as she journeys into the eternal. Although I didn't live in the house with her, I had many opportunities to be welcomed back by Bert as an alum. God Bless You Bert!

CandleAs a parent of a TDC man we also were privleged to develop a close relationship with Mom Bert. Oh how us parents admired and respected her stamina morally and physically. She was a prayer warrior and a devoted Christian and prayed and loved her TDC men unconditionally. Rev. 2:10 "be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life". Mom Bert is wearing her crown of life today. As my TDC son said "her legacy will live on forever through all of those fortunate enough to have shared her company".

The effects of Mom Bert’s influence on the lives of all who lived or spent time at 217 Ash over the past 25 years will continue to ripple around the country and world for many years to come. Her sound advice and thoughtful direction helped raise a generation of brothers. We all carry on what we learned as we pass her wisdom along to family, friends and colleagues through living lives she made better through her example and what she taught us all. She will always be remembered.

Mom Bert was a diplomat, a counselor, an adivsor, a confidant, and above all else, a friend. She will be missed.

CandleMom Bert was such a positive role model for me and I hold her in my heart and mind always.

In the early 1980's Bert and I started our friendship as roommates and we both worked at the College of Design in different departments; and then we worked together again in the 1990's at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Dept, where Bert was my supervisor. Even though after 2 years of being roommates our lives took separate paths, we still remained friends and had many Iowa adventures together, even sharing information on how to survive living in a fraternity. Roberta touched many lives including mine with her honesty, determination and compassion. My deepest sympathies and prayers to the family.
