Betty Helen Daley age 90 a long time Ames resident went to be with her Lord June 14, 2011.
A gathering of friends and family visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, with the family present 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way with a 10:30 a.m. Sat. June 18, Funeral Service at Calvary United Methodist Church, 24th and Hoover in Ames. Burial will be at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Betty was born Jan. 29, 1921 in Blue Earth, Minn; the daughter of Charles and Helen (Dayton) Starbuck. She moved to Ames in the 1930's and attended Milford High School. She married Merle Daley in the Rose Garden at Iowa State University on June 26, 1938. Betty worked at Donnelley's Marketing for twenty years, she volunteered at Mary Greeley Medical Center in the Hospitality Shop, at Calvary United Methodist Church she was involved with the United Methodist Women and other church duties and she was a member of the Ames Women's Club. Betty loved cooking and baking and enjoyed flowers of all kinds. She truly had the gift of hospitality and opened her heart and door to everyone.

Betty is survived by daughters, Dee Ann (John) Weiss of Ames and Marlene (Dan) Quillen of Beulah, Col. Grandsons, John III, James, Jeff, Chad, Matt; great grandchildren, Emma, Sarah, Cory, Carson, Max, Noah, Evan, Bodie, Piper, Autumn and Weston; a sister Joyce Stenson of Marshalltown.

She was preceded in death by her husband Merle in 1979; brothers, Donald and Darrell.

Memorials may be directed to Calvary United Methodist Church.
