Patricia L. Edwards, 63, of Ames left her worldly body on March 2, 2020 with her family by her side at Israel Family Hospice House after a prolonged illness. A public visitation will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care 414 Lincoln Way Ames, Iowa from 5-7:00 p.m. with Funeral services held on Friday March 6, at 10:30 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, with a burial at Ames Municipal Cemetery to follow.
Patricia (Leichliter) Edwards was born on June 20, 1956 to the parents of Virgil and Doris (Mengal) Leichliter in Boone, Iowa. She spent her younger years in Jefferson and Ogden, Iowa. Patricia was outgoing and had a drive that could not be matched. She had passion for music, and it did not matter what genre. That passion led her to enjoy dancing whenever she had the opportunity if the music was good. Her love of music was second only to her family. She was a family first person, whether that was spending time with her grandchildren or catching up with children after they had started their lives. Never backing down from hard work, she used that drive to be a foster parent for 12 years touching many lives. She loved taking care of her lawn and garden; making sure not a single blade of grass was out of place even if she got the mower stuck and had to have Phil tow her out.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Doris, and her brother Gary Leichliter. She is survived by her husband Philip Edwards, children: Michelle Babcock, Jennifer Filipiak, and Brad (Trishia) Filipiak, also her grandchildren: Ashley Bell, Tyler Bell, Damien Bitters, Amaya Filipiak, Michael Filipiak, and Abigail Filipiak, great-grandchildren: Elijah Bell, and Brayden Bell, and sister Cheryl Tilley and nephew Wayne Tourville.

So sorry for your loss, I meant Pat when we both worked at Charnos, You guys are in our thought abd prayers. Teresa Weatherman and family
Pat and I became friends when I started babysitting for Brad when he was in preschool. Since then we shared so much of each other’s life, she was there when Heather had Brandee 30 years ago. I could write a book how much we shared kids graduating from high school, all the grandchildren being born, weddings, funerals, I stood up with her when she married Phil she was finally happy with the man she loved. My mind has been flooded with so many memories it makes me so sad that we won’t have anymore memories. I love Pat she was always an awesome friend to me. I am sorry that we’re not in Iowa to help celebrate her life. Love you guys.
My cousin Patty and I we're like sisters growing up in Iowa. Patty had a big heart and cared for many foster children. I will miss her dearly. Rest in peace.
We will miss her smile and the fun we have had.
