Erik Lingren, 41, of Ames, IA, passed away unexpectedly at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames on April 1, 2021. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, IA with a service in memory of Erik at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. Masks and social distancing are required due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Erik Tyler Lingren was born on July 22, 1979 in Boone, IA to David and Rebecca (Hasstedt) Lingren. He was a 1998 graduate of Ames High School and attended DMACC.

Erik has worked at west Ames Hy-Vee for 25 years, starting part time when he was 16 and last worked in the meat department. He also worked at the DMACC scorer's table. Erik was a huge sports fan in general, especially basketball. The Iowa State Cyclones, DMACC Bears and New York Yankees were his favorites.

Erik was also passionate about road trips in the country, and music. He loved going to concerts, both rap and country.

Being an enormous dog lover, Erik opened his heart and home to many a pup. They enjoyed many walks, swimming, and car rides together.

Erik was very family oriented. His most cherished people were his sister and best friend, Kelly, and his nephew, Jakob.

Left to cherish Erik's memory are his parents, Dave Lingren and Becky Lingren of Ames; sister Kelly Lingren of Ames; nephew, Jakob Lingren of Ames; paternal grandmother Effie Lingren of Ames; aunt, Rose (Kent) Braynard of Ogden; cousins, Tony Jones of Des Moines and Tari (Marshall) Baker of Colorado; his pet Springer Spaniel, Ella and many extended family and friends.

Erik was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rosemary Hasstedt and paternal grandparents, Paul and Ann Lingren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Erik's family.

Sorry to hear of your loss. He must have had a very kind heart and was a thoughtful man. We received one of the bouquets from his service as per his instructions. It was the one with 4 roses and purple flowers. It was a surprise and a very much appreciated. It has made us decide to do the same when our time comes. Thank you again.
