Mary Christine Cooper passed away on April 29, 2022 at the Israel Family Hospice House surrounded by her loving family. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 from 4-6:00 p.m. at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa. Funeral services will be held on May 4, at 10:30 a.m., at the Gilbert Lutheran Church, 135 School St, Gilbert, IA 50105 with a burial held after at Fairview Cemetery in Dows, Iowa.

Mary was born on August 24, 1946, to Andrew and Bertha (Comstock) Sauer in Arkansas. She spent her early years growing up in North Dakota and Omaha, Nebraska. She was a graduate of Benson High School with the class of 1964. She was united in marriage to Darwin Dick Cooper on January 29, 1977. The two made their lives together.

Mary enjoyed reading, working puzzles and listening to music and playing the chimes at the churches.

She was a member of REACT (Radio Emergency Associated Communications Teams), St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church (New Jersey) and Gilbert Lutheran Church.

Mary is survived by her loving husband Darwin, her children, Reggie (Carrie) Cooper of Des Moines, and Michelle (Tracy) Smith of Britt, 7 Grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew, and Bertha and 2 brothers Curt and Edward and 2 sisters Bertha and Doris and also niece Chrissy.
