CandleI only knew Chris from Lowe’s; because I always worked with him. He was always the happy go lucky coworker and always loved to make everyone laugh even he was having a bad day (or not feeling good or like himself). Chris you will be truly missed. As you always tell all of us at work “Always keep your head up high and keep moving forward in life.” And you always told me “when you set your mind to a goal you want keep moving forward and striving for that goal.”… We will always miss your sense of humor, your smile, and your personality. Rest in Peace Chris, may your family and friends come at Peace with your passing. My condolences to the family and friends of Chris Etten.

I knew Chris since at least 6th grade at Cresthaven Elementary School in Waterloo, IA.. We had a lot of good times over the years, and went to a lot of great concerts together as well. Chris helped me get a ticket to the 1990 Paul McCartney concert at Iowa State`s football stadium, one of the best concerts I`ve ever been too. Chris was a big Green Bay Packers fan, liked ice hockey and watching the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and his favorite drum & bugle corp troop was the Madison Scouts, out of Wisconsin. Chris graduated from West High School, (not East High) in Waterloo in 1978, and he moved down to the Des Moines area in the spring of 1988. Chris was a good friend and He will be missed.

I was so sorry to hear the news about Chris. I knew him only casually from shopping at Lowes. But every single time, he made me smile. If I had a choice on which checkout counter to use, I went to Chris's. I got treated with an "Oh there's trouble!" and a big smile every single time. He was funny and cheerful and I found it always rubbed off, at least a little. I'm sorry the world no longer has this bright light.
