Robert Roy Patterson II, 76, passed away on August 16, 2023, at Mary Greely Medical Center. A Graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Ontario Cemetery.

Robert was born to Robert and Ruth (Clap) Patterson Sr. on June 24, 1947, in Ames, Iowa. Robert attended Ames High School and graduated with the class of 1965. After his primary education, He enlisted in the United States Navy, serving honorably from 1968 until his discharge in 1971. Upon his discharge from the Navy, Robert was employed by Iowa State University until his retirement in 2003. Robert enjoyed spending his free time building and collecting model trains. He spent time volunteering at the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad and the Ames Food Bank.

Left to cherish Robert's memory is his son, Robert (Makenzie) Patterson III, grandchildren: Chloe and Gretchen Patterson, siblings: Ann (Everett) Pinta, Richard (Linda) Patterson, Alice (Brad) Reed, and Bill (Christie) Patterson.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ruth.
