Kristine DaNae (Latuska) Ellis passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church (610 15th St, Ames, IA 50010) with a funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. Online condolences may be directed to: www.grandonfuneralandcremationcare.com
The daughter of Al and Tanny Latuska, Kristine was born on October 29, 1966, at University Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. She was 2 ½ years old when she and her parents and brother moved to Ames, Iowa where she attended school from kindergarten through 12th grade, graduating in 1985. At age 14 she began working for her Dad at Randall Foods, until she left for college in Iowa Falls. After one year, she returned to Ames and enrolled in Bernel's Beauty School, graduating in 1988. She married Charles Duane Ellis on June 11, 1988. There were no children.
Kris was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was confirmed, was active in the church youth group, and was married. Kris was a grocery checker for Cub Foods and Dahl's and went to TJ Maxx in 2013. She loved her job there and all the other employees she worked with.
Kris was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her father, Al; parents-in-law, Charley and Evelyn Ellis; and brothers-in-law, Jeff and, Nyno Ellis.
She is survived by her mother, Tanny; her brother Ken (Sandy); nephews Ryan and Matthew; her "sister" Becky Jackson and her significant other Rik Tjarks; her pets, Cooper and Penny (Dog Mom); "sister" Julie Ellis; brothers-in-law, Chris Ellis and Wendall (Tammy) Ellis, Danny Ellis; nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and personal friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ames, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or the Ames Animal Shelter.
Tammy and Ken…so sorry for your loss of Kris. In times like this…know that God is right beside you..He never leaves you. Kris was confirmed with our son Mark. A nice quiet girl. Cling to God and your happy memories🙏 May God comfort and bless you in the coming days.🙏

Our friendship started by me knocking on my window while she was out walking her dog and I waved at her!
We'd talk when she was out walking her dog and I went to her house and then I'd talk to her also at TJMAXX, her smile was always infectious and I will remember her this way, RIP my friend❤️

Kris was a beautiful soul with a smile that was contagious and wouldn't quit. You couldn't help but to love her. She will definitely be missed.
Kris was the highlight of any day I got to see her. The world lost some of its brightness. Tanny you should have heard your girl talk about how great you are, how great her dad was, and how much you meant to her. I will miss knowing Kris might walk in and get me laughing any minute.
We had lots of fun "back in the day" and I will miss chatting with you on FB. Rest in peace, Kris.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your daughter. I can see the vibrant energy she must have had from the photo that you have chosen here. While I did not know her, having know that two of you, I can imagine the deep sense of loss that you must be experiencing. God bless and comfort you in your grief.

I met kris at J4 roller way and we formed a great group of friends she was a great person and always fun to hang around with always had a blast never seemed mad at anyone or anything RIP Kris you are already missed by so many
