L. Dean Jordison passed away at the age of 80 on Tuesday, April 29, at his home in Gilbert, Iowa. He was born on December 6, 1944, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Lowell F. and Ann Dora Sophia (Wentorf) Jordison. He graduated from Ames High School in 1963 and AIB in Des Moines in 1965. Dean married the love of his life, Mary Lynn Millard on December 17, 1967, in Ames, Iowa. The couple made a life in the Ames/Gilbert Iowa area. They were blessed with 3 children, pets and a loving home.

Dean worked for the Ames Municipal Light and Power for 38 years as a high voltage electrician. Dean had many passions that included raising Registered Paint Horses, owning a Corvette and belonging to Ames Corvette Club, as well as being an avid collector of many things throughout his life. Dean's proudest moments were spent with his wife and his three children and later his grandchildren, having a special relationship with each of them. You could often find him watching youth sports, plays, concerts and other important events. He loved traveling around the United States- frequenting important historical sites and national parks. In 2024, Dean fulfilled his honeymoon promise to take his bride to all 50 states - a special accomplishment.

He would never let anyone leave an event until they knew how much he appreciated them and how special/important they were. A special phrase of "Don't Ever Forget" was always passed along as a short version of "Don't you ever forget how much I love you!"

Dean is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Jordison, his children, Steve Jordison, Lora (Shawn) VanDePol, B.J. (Emily) Jordison, his grandchildren, Caleb, Gavin & Logan Jordison, Jacob & Meghan VanDePoL and Rylie, Keelyn, Henry, Raney & Rory Jordison, Sister, LoAnn Byers and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held 4-6:00 p.m. Sunday May 4, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, Ames. A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, at Gilbert Lutheran Church, 135 School Street, Gilbert. Burial will follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery.
