William Paul Coady, 87, of Nevada, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026, at Accura Healthcare of Ames.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Bill Coady will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 2900 Hoover Avenue, in Ames.

Visitation for Bill Coady will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way, in Ames, with a rosary service beginning at 4:00 PM and a time of sharing and remembrance beginning at 4:15.

William Paul Coady was born September 6, 1938 to Francis and Mabel (Brees) Coady in rural Georgetown, Iowa, the youngest of three children. He was raised and educated in Albia, Iowa, graduating from Albia High School with the Class of 1956. Following graduation, he attended a technical school, learning the tv and radio repair trade.

In 1962, Bill was married to Mary Ellen Stephens, and to this union, children Greg, Jim and John were born. The couple later divorced.

In 1978, Bill was united in marriage to Kristi Jo Worster. The blended family added children Lindsey, Christopher and later, David and Annie through adoption. The family made their home in Boone, later Ames, for many years, and most recently, Nevada.

Bill worked for IBM for 45 years as a service representative, using his technical abilities and skills to help customers with equipment issues. In his free time, he like to fix and tinker with things for family and friends alike.

Bill was active as a scout leader, when the boys were young, and absolutely adored his children and grandchildren. He was known as someone who would be there to help with a simple phone call.

Bill was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan, enjoyed watching Fox News and listening to talk radio. He spent time working on leathercraft, reading and watching westerns, and he absolutely loved the ocean. He and Kris went on cruises almost every year, with St. Thomas and Nassau, Bahamas being among his favorite vacation destinations. The family also took memorable trips to South Dakota, Kentucky, Chicago, Omaha and Minneapolis.

Bill was a lifelong Catholic, a Knight of Columbus, and a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kristi, of Nevada; children Greg (Carole) Coady of St. Louis, Missouri, Jim (Jamie) Coady of Ankeny, John (Kim Weier) Coady of Ankeny, Lindsey Coady of Ames, Christopher Coady of Ames, David Coady of Ames, and Annie (Brian) Savage of Plymouth, Iowa; grandchildren Megan (James) Mobley of West Des Moines, Jack Coady of St. Louis, Max Coady of St. Louis, Ellie Savage of Plymouth, and Buckley Savage of Plymouth; brother Bob Coady of Grand Junction, Colorado; along with numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Lou Gasper.
