John W. Pinkerton age 70, longtime Ames resident died July 8 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames a gathering of friends will be 4:30pm -- until the 5:30PM Sunday July 13 Celebration of life service at Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames.
John was born September 27, 1937 in Monmouth, IL, the son of John C. and Florence Thompson Pinkerton. He graduated from Aledo High School. He then received his BS of Engineering at Iowa State University, John then received his Masters of Engineering at University of Illinois. He married Vicci Young in New Windsor, Illinois in 1961.
John was active in Collegiate Presbyterian Church in various aspects. John held many positions in engineering at Sundstrand/Sauer-Danfoss and retired from the position of Vice President Global Hydrostatics Engineering in 2001 after 39 years.
John is survived by his wife Vicci Pinkerton of Ames, two sons and daughters in law, John and Vickie of Canton MI. and Mark and Marie of Madison, WI, two grandsons Joseph and Gareth
John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Lundeen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Collegiate Presbyterian Church or Youth and Shelter Services of Ames.
