Betty Lee Carr age 78, a longtime Ames resident died Monday Jan 21, at Israel family Hospice House in Ames. A gathering of friends will be 4:00 -7:00pm Thursday Jan 24 at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care in Ames. A Memorial Service for Betty will be 9:30 am Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care.
Betty Lee Carr was born October 25, 1929 in Crocker MO the daughter of Charles Everette and Anna Edith (Joyner) George. She graduated from high school in California before moving to Ames in 1952. She married Richard (Dick) Carr on May 14, 1955 in Ames. Betty was employed for 17 years at 3M in Ames before retiring.
Betty enjoyed golfing, and collecting dogs and bears and several other trinkets. She also enjoyed her family. Dick and Betty played golf for several years in the Monday and Friday night couple league at the Oaks Golf Course.
Betty is survived by her husband Dick Carr of Ames, daughter Crys (Paul) Newsom of Florissant , MO;
son Mike (Tammy) Carr of Ames, 8 grandchildren Tricia, Chad, Matt, Jenna, Emily, Melanie, Adam, Ariel and two great grandchildren Averi and Preston. 3 brothers Paul George of Anahiem, CA; Bill George of Nevada, and Charles George of Croker MO; a sister Nellie McGinty Melbourne, FL.
Betty was preceded by her parents and 9 siblings.
In Lieu of flowers memorials maybe directed to Mary Greeley Fondation Israel Family Hospice House or American Lung Association.
