Daniel J. Jensen 72 of Ames, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007at home from cancer, surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday September 30, 2007 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa. Following the service a reception of sharing and celebration will be held.

Dan was born October 18, 1934 to Holger and Florence (Swanson) Jensen. He graduated from Gilbert High School, Luther College and received his Master's from ISU. From 1954 to 1956, Dan served in the US Army in Germany, playing basketball and baseball for his base. He began his teaching and coaching career at South Hamilton High School in 1959. Dan continued teaching and coaching career at Central Junior High and Ames High School until his retirement in 1993.

In 1958, Dan married Karen Danielson in Roland Iowa. They were blessed with four children: Mark, David, Julie, and Chris. Surviving Dan is his wife, Karen and his children and families: Mark (Tammy), Rylin, Logan and Lily; David (Kari), Leah and Hanna; Julie (Bruce), Taryn and Samantha; and Chris (Ann), Also surviving Dan are his siblings: Richard (Linda), Paul (Diane), Anna (Hank), Amy (Bill), Fred (Rita), Bob and (Sharon), and many nephews, and nieces, and grand nephews, and nieces. Dan was preceded in death by his Parents and one brother Jim.

In lieu of flowers, memorials contributions may be given to Mary Greeley Fondation Israel Family Hospice House or to a memorial established by the family in Daniel's memory.
