Howard Gorman age 89 of Story City, IA died Dec. 28, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Memorial Services are being planned for a later date.
Howard was born Dec. 4, 1918 in Algona, Iowa the son of Edward and Martha (Haase) Gorman. He married Norma Chamberlin and she preceded him in death. On Dec. 26, 1999, he married Haroldean (Smith) Flaspohler in Story City, Iowa. Howard lived most of his adult life in Mason City, IA. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1939 and was inducted into the US Army into the Red Bull Division in 1944 and was a WWII veteran. He worked 30 years for Iowa Power and Light in Mason City. Howard was a life member of Ames VFW, a life member of Story City American Legion, and a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Story City. Howard enjoyed tennis and played until he was 83 years old, He also bowled until 2007.
Howard is survived by his wife Haroldean Gorman of Story City, son Jay (Donna) Gorman of Longmont, CO, step son Mark (Rose) Flaspohler of Story City, step daughter JoEllen (Ayal) Nitzan of Culver City, CA, 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, sisters, Janice Burgess of Cedar Rapids, Mileen Sinclair of TX, nieces and nephews.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, wife Norma, daughter Linda Gorman 1992, a brother and three sisters.
